Conor McGregor will smash Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather

Yes, it has been talked about, and a long time coming, but now it is final, Floyd 'Money Maker'

Mayweather and UFC phenom, Conor McGregor will fight in August. 

I have heard it said, this is about the money, and simply a publicity stunt. In other words

everyone knows Mayweather will win,but this is part of a public campaign to make him

and Dana White along with others more rich. Well, we shall see, but i am banking

on Conor to upset what everyone else is thinking impossible, and that is a win.

Bruce Lee to be honored in City of Cincinnati on July 15, 2017\

Yes, we will be paying our respect to legendary martial arts master Bruce Lee

on July 15th this year at our Open martial arts tournament.

The Jinen-Do Martial arts school will be honoring our hero throughout

the day of our martial arts championship competition.

During the day we will have self defense demonstrations, empty hand and 

weapons forms, point and continuous sparring. We will have available Bruce Lee

memorabilia. 

Are you feeling a bit Kung Fooey? Well we will top it off with a Nunchaku

competition, to see who has the best nunchaku routine as close to Bruce Lee.

Sound good? We hope to see you there on the floor and we will be paying our

black belt adult forms and fighting champions some cash. Not a lot but enough 

to take that special someone out to dinner.

Did i mention that it will also be my birthday? Yes 46 years in the martial arts, seems

like just yesterday. I hope to see you there. This event is open to all styles and systems.

Jinen-Do Martial Arts Championships and Bruce Lee Memorial Tribute to be held at the Evanston Recreation center, 3204 Woodburn Avenue, Cincinnati,Ohio. Doors open at 9:30am

You are invited to attend the Jinen-Do Martial Arts Championships and Bruce Lee Memorial on July 15,2017./Cincinnati Ohio
This event will feature martial arts point sparring, Continuous sparring, weapon's and empty hand forms(Kata), Ju-jitsu and self defense demonstrations.

This event is open to all martial arts systems and styles. We will have grand champion cash awards in black belt adult forms, and sparring divisions. The award is fifty dollars for the grand champion winner.

Safety is our primary concern, and our competitors are required to use foam safety head, hand, and foot protection, along with mouth guards, and groin protection for male competitors.

This is a world family event, therefore we encourage everyone to invite family and friends, and remember to be both respectful and courteous to everyone, to include staff, competitors,and spectators alike.

The cost of this event for spectators is 7.00 for adults, and 2.00 dollars for children 6 years to 17 years of age. Children 5 and under are absolutely free!!

Competitor participation cost is: 40.00 dollars for 1 or 2 events, 50.00 dollars for 3 or more events.
Jinen-Do Self defense & concept seminar for adult beginners and black belts, from 10:00am to 11:00am, cost is $10.00 conducted by gm R. Stroud/brother teacher. If you need pointers and practical concepts in defense, you don't want to miss this...

Note: Everyone Competes!!, There will be beautiful first to third place awards, and forth to fifth place runner-up.There will be no awards presented for just being the only competitor in your division. We all train to compete, and when necessary, you will be moved up to the next division in forms or run your form alone. If there is no one to spar with in your division, when appropriate, you will will move up one division or have a exhibition fight if you are a significantly lower rank.

The Bruce Lee Tribute will feature a special Nunchaku competition, from beginner to black form(Kata), where the winner of each event will receive a special award. The cost of this event is $10.00, and is separate from regular competition.
We will also have my special Bruce Lee trivia contest, where i will give you money for answering questions about the Dragon, so start studying now..

Registration is from 10.00am to 11:00am -Event starts on time! at 11:00am and ends at 4:00pm /There are no refunds, and as always we accept cash, checks and money orders.
Pre-registration (optional) is 10.00 off of your competition fee, and is in effect from May 1,2017 to June 1, 2017

Grand master Edward Brown and a moment of reflection

One of my dear friends and also a Okinawan karate Instructor.
Grand Master Brown was taught the art of Shuri Ryu Karate under the late great
Grand Master Johnny Lee Jelks. He was one of Jelks most prized students, Master Jelks
told me that himself. Grand master Jelks was a very humble man, and as Brown has said
"He taught me everything i know"

This couldn't be any more true, because Brown over the past few decades has won virtually
every Karate tournament in both Men's black belt sparring and Kata divisions. He is
 truly disciplined and i am really proud to have known him most of my martial arts career.

Heads up Karateka!! Because Grand Master Ed Brown is definitely someone to behold.

In Memory of Jim Kelly

Remember this iconic scene of Kelly from 'Three the Hard Way'
when he says to cop 'Gonna Set Me Up?' Ouuuuuuey
Now this was classic Jim Kelly at his best...enjoy

Jim 'The Dragon' Kelly, is what he came to be known as, for his role alongside the 

legendary dragon...Bruce Lee.

Jim Kelly's life has been shrouded with mystery to me, because i only knew of him

from the action films that he appeared in during the seventies. 

I knew very little of his life off the screen, other than the fact that he was an avid

tennis player, athlete, and he lived in Paris Kentucky, not too far from me in Ohio.

As a black martial artist, i, along with many others found ourselves identifying with 

great martial arts masters of the big screen, such a Jim Kelly, Ron Van Clief, Carl

Scott, and several others. 

I grew to respect the person of Jim Kelly much more over the years, especially how

honest and wholesome of a man he was. He was one of a few known black

martial artist that truly respected the skill and talent of the late Bruce Lee, and

it is well documented .  I thank him for his contributions to the arts and to humanity.

Other than Enter the Dragon, Jim appeared in his own body of works as well, such as 

Black Belt Jones,Black Samurai, Hot Potato, One Down Two to Go, and we

,can't forget Three the Hard Way

Sonny Chiba in the Street Fighter

Sonny Chiba (Shinichi Chiba) was one of the most prolific martial arts personalities 

of the seventies alongside Bruce Lee. He was is one of my most favorite film fighters.

I have seen virtually all of his body of work, especially Street Fighter, Return of the 

Street Fighter, Body Guard and The Killing Machine. These were his original hits, and

i was sitting glued to the theatre screen when they played. He is truly a legend, not to 

mention, that one of his instructors were the legendary Mas Oyama. Enough Said.
