UFC and "Ultimate Fighter" veteran Corey Hill remains hospitalized while battling a serious case of pneumonia, according to his wife Lauran Hill in a statement to TMZ.
The UFC had issued a statement earlier in the day stating that Hill had passed away due to complications from the illness and several other sources confirmed similar news that the 36-year-old fighter died in the hospital.
Hours later, Hill's family finally gave a brief statement confirming that he is still alive, although his exactly condition and prognosis for recovery are unknown at this time.
Hill was originally a member of "The Ultimate Fighter" season 5 cast along with several top fighters who are still in the UFC today, including Nate Diaz, Joe Lauzon and Gray Maynard.
Following his stint on the reality show, Hill amassed a 1-2 record in the UFC before suffering a gruesome broken leg in his fight with Dale Hartt in 2008. The leg injury was similar to the one suffered by former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in his fight with Chris Weidman in 2013.
Hill recovered from the injury and fought again a year later, but never returned to the UFC again.
Hill had been hospitalized recently after being diagnosed with pneumonia and it appeared as if the former UFC lightweight took a turn for the worse and was being taken off of life support.
Now, according to his wife, Hill is 'resting and still alive' but there's been no further updates.
UFC officials have not responded to FOX Sports for further comment on the situation.
